![]() "Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out. The primary reference is in 2 Maccabees, 12:26 and 12:32. There is scriptural basis for this belief. Purgatory is necessary so that souls can be cleansed and perfected before they enter into heaven. The third option is purgatory, which is where most people, free of mortal sin, but still in a state of lesser (venial) sin, must go. The second is hell, where those who die in a state of mortal sin are naturally condemned by their choice. The first is heaven, where a person who dies in a state of perfect grace and communion with God goes. The soul of a person who dies can go to one of three places. This Monday 2nd November is the Feast of All Souls - the Commemoration of all the faithful departed. The holy Church throughout all the world doth acknowledge thee. We praise thee, O God: we acknowledge thee to be the Lord. But surely we can have a strong hope that these three people are among those we celebrate today and give praise to God for. We only know for certain those in Heaven, when they are raised to the altar at canonization. On All Saints Day this Sunday we celebrate all those who are in the presence of God whose names we do not know. This is one of the attributes of a death that carries with it the idea of martyrdom and is one of the conditions accepted in the beatification process. It appears to have been a terrorist attack and the murders targeted those going to Mass - a clear case of their deaths being “in odium fidei”, which is to say, carried out in hatred of the faith. Three people, the sacristan, Vincent, who was 55 years old and a father of two daughters, who had served the basilica as sacristan for 10 years, and two women Mass goers, one 44, the other 60 years old. On Thursday morning at the Basilica of Our Lady at Nice in southern France, there was a terrible attack on those attending Mass. I pray that this Christmas will bring each of us new hope as we look to the future year with the strength of God's grace within us. The many tragedies of Covid 19 have also been the cause of so many acts of kindness and generosity that give us hope. The new life we celebrate each Christmas is the renewal of that which God has given each of us - His life that courses through our world, which re-invigorates our faith. When we cannot hold hands we can still hold one another in prayer as we gather in spirit with the Holy Family this Christmas. Let us be inspired to find new ways to reach out and care for one another. The precautions we live under are a sacrifice for the greater good, so that more of us may live to see another day. So likewise, we must do so today with courage and dignity in the face of that which afflicts us. But our Order began precisely to combat that to find ways to give them that comfort of care. This year, we have all shared in that feeling. The warmth of the embrace of family and friends, one of the most basic of human needs, denied to them. We know from the Scriptures and we know it remains true today, that those suffering from it are often excluded from society. Our Order is called after St Lazarus and it's founding charism that of caring for those suffering from leprosy. Not least, that for the most part we have not been able to gather together in the Order, either nationally or internationally. Perhaps what we will remember most is the necessity of being apart. Let us stand together with those who have found their incomes disappear or their businesses struggle. Let us recall that we have all suffered emotional and mental distress through fear and through being kept apart from our loved ones and friends. Let us stand with those who have been bereaved. We come to the end of a year when so many have endured so much suffering in so many ways brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic. This Christmas may be like no other we have experienced.

![]() NuhnEdu works well for teaching controller mapping, DSP processing and live performance interaction. It has a number of unique software including the Bell Granular Synthesizer and the PitchSet System, both developed by Dirk Stromberg. It has been implemented on PC (in conjunction with GlovePie for Wii and HID), OSX (in conjunction with OSCulator for Wii) and Linux. The program is designed to function like a sandbox for testing different controller possibilities with a collection of audio abstractions. It allows for routing of controllers such as MIDI, HID, Wii as well as audio control signals such as envelope following and pitch tracking. Īny idea what i'm doing wrong here? i'm using OSCuMote 1.2 and Unity 2.NuhnEdu is a series of abstractions for dynamic patching in PD (Puredata). When we deleted the WiiMoteTest.cs from the WiiMoteListener and instead attached our hacked version of WiiMoteTest.cs to a cube, we got it to wiggle around. i had a friend who knows some C# look at it. Osculator is responding to the buttons joystick, and i was able to get a different app to receive the button messages from Osculator using your settings.Īs you've probably guessed, i'm not a coder. no change appears in the in-game display for the buttons and joystick values when i press them. However, nothing happens in the demo when i move the wii - the sphere just drops onto the plane and sits motionless. GameOn.unity receives OSC data for Pitch, Roll Yaw, and these value changes appear in the in-game display. hope you have a minute to help me troubleshoot: I'm a performing artist and OSCuMote is a wonderful solution to help me add a Wii to my media performances, but i'm having some trouble. * Last thing could be an implementation issue from my part that i unfortunately don't have time at the moment to improve or look into it. (This is located in the "Wiimote drawer" in OSCulator) So here you might also be able to tweak things. * In OSCulator you can "smooth" the data. don't send ir data if you're not using it etc. I do have some recommendations that might speed up things though. I haven't had any issues with lagging as such. If you experience any memory leak and can track it down, please let me know I'm getting really busy at school so i might not have so much time to look deeper into it the coming month. It should only be an issue inside the unity editor and not when you have a standalone application (hopefully ). I did make a fix that worked when running the code from a normal C# program, however unity doesn't seem to want to stop the thread. I have also tried to fix the issue with the thread not stopping in unity when you stop running the application. After having it run for a while i haven't experienced any memory leaks. I have been looking into it and i think i was too quick with regards to the memory leak. Its on my work pc which i cant access right now, so you'll have to wait for tomorrow.ĮDIT: Remember (and this is important) to have the same port number in the GlovePIE script AND in the WiimoteReciever script in Unity! otherwise you wont get squab out of it. That way, whenever you hit button A it will return 1.0, and if you dont it will return 0.0.Īnyway, to help ease things up a bit - if you havent figured it out by tomorrow i'll throw up my GlovePIE to Unity script which contains all that is needed for using all the buttons, pitch and roll and the XYZ (using sensor-bar) - so all you have to do is run it. In this case the data is sendt as a 1.0 - meaning it will always be true - we dont want that, so either directly link the button input through a Wiimote.A in glovepie, or store the data as a float in GlovePie using something like var.buttonA = wiimote.A. Then in the Unity Oscumote part, you ensure that the port in the script is set to the same (in this case 6000) - what the code you posted yourself then does is check the "/1/" value - if its a 1 - then it has found wiimote 1 and will access the GUI parts and such to be displayed in Unity. So for instance, this following code would send a message to the local pc, on port 6000 - and indicate what it is: ![]() (Cant guarantee the caps is correct but you'll see if it works when you e.g. Basically what you do from glovepie is that you send out the following: ![]() Really really really enjoy punching (or kicking) my opponent in the gut one more timeĪfter KO'ing them with a light attack. So they’ve influenced me from a young age. Whether it’s Alice in Wonderland or The Lord of the Rings, mushrooms are often featured in fantasy literature and films. While at heart I’m a landscape photographer, I also love mushrooms. “ Glowing Mushrooms” is a very peculiar macro Photoshop tutorial. Then there’s one more video that is in a league of its own. Zooming way in on those distant craggy peaks, where clouds swirling among them create interesting shapes. In “Ghostly Mountains”, we switch to using telephoto lenses. In “Mountain Landscapes”, we use the wide-angle lens to take it all in and use the lens’ natural distortion to our advantage. Again, the focal length used in either processing video varies. “ Ghostly Mountains” is very different from “ Mountain Landscapes”. And spending an hour dodging ridges on a mountain isn’t always interesting to watch! There’s plenty of time to learn the trick and the tools to use it with, but sometimes it’s also a matter of grit. Most of that tedious work is sped up in each tutorial on this website. This videos is not long because of that attention to detail. I can lose myself in the tiniest details and really shape how light affects both sky and landscape. What better way to convey that passion for moody mountains in an editing tutorial? “ Ghostly Mountains” is not only the longest processing video I ever recorded, it’s also one I like to watch myself. ![]() Heck, I get excited by dunes and hills with 5 meters of elevation. Maybe because I’m Dutch and we don’t have mountains in the Netherlands. The interaction between clouds, light and sharp peaks is what drew me into fantasy and later into landscape photography. There’s just something about the way they connect the landscape and the sky above it. If I had to pick which subjects most fascinate me, I’d say those are mountains. ![]() While “ The Dark Forest” shows you how I would approach a forest scene with a telephoto lens in which the subjects are multiple trees, “ Monumental Trees” takes the wide-angle lens and pits you underneath an ancient, lone sentinel of the forest. Forest photography and Monumental Trees are different in two ways. As of this writing, most of my galleries now have a processing video associated with them. And since I have a couple galleries on my website, I started out with the idea of offering a Photoshop tutorial for each of those galleries. A certain subjectĮach video focuses on a particular subject within landscape photography. Here’s an outline of what you will learn in each video. What to Expect from a Landscape Processing Videoĭrafting a Photoshop tutorial is never easy. That’s why all of my Photoshop tutorials feature English subtitles. Since I rarely post-process without music, I wanted to leave that opportunity in my processing videos for you too. They all help to make me feel a certain way when I process. My vision is fueled by films such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Prometheus, but also by atmospheric music, paintings and collectible card games. Without vision, or the sense of direction through which you take your photos, the results will almost certainly disappoint. In every Photoshop tutorial I offer, vision is key. In my case, Photoshop came first and photography second. But it wasn’t until much later that I actually used these techniques in conjunction with photography. Not much later, I discovered how to paint in Photoshop. You see, I grew up with wanting to draw scenes from movies by hand. There is a cinematic quality to my still images and that is no coincidence. In these Photoshop video tutorials, you watch me edit my landscapes with that dark, dramatic mood you like. It also allows you to gain the fundamental organisational and administrative skills. Starting off at the bottom allows you to gain good insight into the industry. It’s not always as glamorous at it seems.Īny advice for someone just starting out within the events industry? There are always good and bad experiences in every event, you need to take those experiences and learn from them.Īre there certain traits one requires in this industry?Ībsolutely, you need to love working with people, but you also need to be organised and dedicated to your work. Is experience as important as formal training?Įxperience is key in the events industry. Technology is always advancing, so it’s important to keep up to date. It’s a tough goal and the competition is fierce. My current goal is to turn Avenue into an internationally recognised conference centre and venue within the first two years of opening. My responsibility was running the hospitality and ticketing at Ellis Park Stadium. I was headhunted to work for FIFA for the World Cup 2010 South Africa team. What’s been the highlight of your career to date? You have to be ready to do crisis management at any point. Every event has its challenges, and not everything goes according to plan. There are many small and large hurdles in the events business. Sometimes I struggle with the long, exhausting hours! I enjoy creating events and the feeling of knowing that a client is happy with what you have created for them. In between this, I do the financial aspects of the venue and events, sales and marketing, and client liaison. Depending if it’s a build day, event day or break day, I am on-site with suppliers and clients. Each day brings on its own challenges and demands. There isn’t really a typical day in the events industry. Some of my most valuable training was the first year of working. I completed a 4-year BA (Hons) Degree in Event Management. I studied at Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. It’s a little different to creating an event, but the planning, research and implementation is the same. A year ago, I took on an unusual challenge, assisting with the project management of Avenue, a new event venue. I have been focused on international and domestic events for the last ten years. What Does an Event Manager Do An event manager ensures the smooth running of an event from conception to completion. I made a decision that day that I would do it as a profession. Event Management is the operational organisation of conferences, B2B events and exhibitions, from concept through to delivery. I couldn’t believe the décor, flowers, food and the way everybody and everything looked so beautiful and elegant. They’re less involved with design details and deal more with scheduling and directing event staff. Most of their work is done on the day of the event. My dreams of being a ‘party planner’ all started when I was 12 years old I attended a wedding that blew my mind. An event coordinator makes sure that all of the planning is correctly executed. What got you into the field of event management? post-event evaluation (including data entry and analysis and producing reports for event stakeholders).overseeing the dismantling and removal of the event and clearing the venue efficiently. ![]()
